As Soundcloud rappers started gaining wider name recognition outside of the platform, the streaming site flooded with new artists seeking to replicate that for themselves. Elias was already far ahead of this curve, posting and building a following on the website back in 2015, under the moniker of Yung Coke. When the Atlanta-vibe hit the Nordics, Elias had already been listening to this for a couple of years – and was getting tired of it, ready to create something fresh. During his rise, progression, and eventual termination of Yung Coke, Elias began writing more R&B songs and transforming his sound and identity into the expertly crafted art you hear today.
Boys Don’t Cry is Elias’s new single and it sounds amazing. I really like the laid-back R&B textures. Besides, the vocal performance is very powerful. Elias has such a soulful voice. Furthermore, I am a big fan of the construction of the chorus!
Speaking about the single, Elias said: “In way too many situations I’ve found myself trying to hide what I’m feeling. I think I’ve always thought of crying as some sort of weakness. As a boy I was raised to be strong and in many cases that meant not crying. We all cry. It’s good to cry. It’s good to show emotions. Boys Don’t Cry is my way of dealing with the countless times I’ve been trying to hide it.”
