Elly’s extraordinary range and depth resonate powerfully with her beautiful words. Fired by life, love, pain and poetry that reflects the waves and vicissitudes of nature. Born and bred in the abundant Devon countryside, Elly has created a truthful world that makes you stop, listen and feel. Longing to play her grandmother’s piano as an eight-year-old, she was writing songs and improvising to create her own music world. As a twelve-year-old, Elly had won a singing scholarship to Wells Cathedral School where she was classically trained and honed her hauntingly beautiful voice. She joined the big band and solidified her passion for soul & jazz music.
Phoenix is Elly’s debut single and it sounds amazing. The melodic construction is unique and shows thoughtful artistic choices. Besides, Elly’s vocal performance is sublime. She has such a unique voice. Furthermore, I also adore the dynamics.
Lyrically, Elly knows to impress. Phoenix is a song about the moment before the end of a relationship full of alliteration, love and the prospect of not just moving on but being strong.
