Lindsay Munroe is a songwriter based in Manchester. Whilst her early forays into music were deeply rooted in folk music, she found herself drawn to more rock based guitar sounds, bluntly phrased lyrics and experimenting with whether there is a line between making creative expression beautiful and making it honest.
Munroe released today her debut single Mirror and it is an amazing piece of music. I like the unique melodic construction. Besides, the hooks are powerful. Furthermore, I am also a fan of the crystal clear vocals and dynamic elements.
The single is accompanied by a fantastic music video, directed by AGAS Film.
On the single, Munroe says: ”I started writing Mirror whilst reflecting on a fantasy I had as an insecure teenager. I used to wish I could be physically malleable, like a clay sculpture, able to change my body to fit into different standards and situations. That made me really angry, that I had ever felt like that. But the song is also a celebration of the way that other people can see you more clearly than you see yourself and the way that can change our self-perception.”
Munroe’s sound is iconic. Mirror has all the elements of a true masterpiece. Make sure to stream it as soon as possible!
