MILA is the project of the 26-year-old singer-songwriter-bedroomproducer Michelle Virginie Alblas from Rotterdam, the Netherlands. After releasing her debut single Sisters, Michelle fell into a series of panic attacks and had to put down the work on her new EP. This year she recovered and now she’s back with two new songs about her dark thoughts and how she managed to overcome them.
Heartquake is the A-side of the two sided single and it sounds so good. I like the dynamics. Besides, the vocals are out of this world. Furthermore, I am also a fan of the dominant synths and R&B elements.
Lyrically, the song is very impressive. Heartquake embodies a panic attack. MILA describes: ”Writing Heartquake gave me the opportunity to give words to the destructive thoughts I was having during a panic attack. They would otherwise be covered up.”
MILA’s music is something else. Heartquake needs a lot of attention. Start streaming it now!
