criibaby is a Bay Area native and queer artist.
She recently released her debut single Sunshine and it sounds so good. I like the bouncy groove. Besides, the vocals are out of this world. Furthermore, I am also a fan of the solid hooks and soulful influences.
On the single, criibaby says: ”The song is about celebrating queer love and I chose Valentine’s Day as the release date because it’s a time of peak heteronormativity where my identity sometimes feels erased by the barrage of advertisements and marketing toward straight couples. I feel strongly the need for authentic queer representation and to express that V-day (and furthermore, LOVE!) is for everyone. Though the song is pronoun neutral, on a more personal level, the song is about falling in love with another woman for the first time, and it’s also about giving myself the space & time to fall in love with my queer identity. The song was recorded and mastered at my studio in San Francisco and the single art was shot on site at the historic San Francisco LGBT Center, where I am proud to be a monthly donor.
criibaby is an inspiring artist, her words are so powerful. Sunshine defines the meaning of music. Thank you criibaby for making something like this.
She will release her first album later in 2020, keep an eye on it!
