Lefuturewave is a music blog based in the Netherlands. We feature emerging as well as established artists.
A gifted songwriter and energetic performer, Taylor Grey burst onto the music scene in 2016, the same year she started her undergraduate degree at Stanford University. Driven by introspection and emotive delivery, the 22-year-old Northern California native has been building a name for herself as a prolific recording artist by navigating today’s contemporary pop landscape with authenticity and vulnerability that is impossible not to cheer on. She has already shared the stage with the likes of Flo Rida, Fall Out Boy, Walk the Moon, Sabrina Carpenter, Jake Miller, O-Town, Ryan Cabrera and The Vamps, among others.
COMPLIC8ED is Grey’s new single and it sounds awesome. I like the modern pop melodies. Besides, the vocals are out of this world. Furthermore, I am also a fan of the powerful hooks and well-written lyrics.
The single is accompanied by a fantastic music video. The new video marks the first official music video release that Grey has dropped since 2017, making an illustrious statement of what this new year will entail.
Grey sheds some insight on the new music video, stating that “(she) knew the video for COMPLIC8ED had to be something above and beyond,” pulling the video’s inspiration after watching Netflix’s show The End of the F**king World, sharing “(she) loved the second season with the shot of ‘Alyssa’ in the wedding dress and her decision to leave the ideal, safe yet boring, guy for her true love. I altered the concept to better fit COMPLIC8ED but I loved the idea of how leaving the ‘perfect guy’ on your wedding day for a bad boy/less-than-perfect relationship as the definition of a complicated situation.”
Grey knows exactly how to make good music, she’s so creative. COMPLIC8ED is a real anthem. Be sure to stream it as soon as possible!
