Something Good is the new single from Manchester’s Ellysse Mason. It marks a distinct change in direction from her 2018 single Hunt Me Down which crashed into the Music Friday playlist top 10, amassing 2.5 million streams to date.
The song sounds so good. I like the pop melodies. Besides, the vocals are sublime. Furthermore, I am also a fan of the solid hooks and nostalgic elements.
Lyrically, Ellysse delivers. Something Good manages to address the ups and downs of
depression whilst at the same time managing to feel like it’s giving you a massive hug.
The song is made all the more relevant by the fact that its video addresses the issues so many of us are facing during isolation. Filmed over a 24-hour period it shows the highs and lows of being shut off in our own homes. As Ellysse explains: “I found it difficult in isolation, just like everyone else. I like the outside and usually can’t stay in for longer than a day before I go mad. But it also forced this positive mindset onto me, because I’ve had to be. It’s like the world just stopped turning for a second, and it’s given me time to be creative. I managed to come up with a music video that can hopefully resonate with so many people.”
Ellysse’s music connects with people. Something Good deserves to be heard. Start streaming it now!
