Kelsey Coockson is an artist from the Netherlands.
She recently released her new single Not Scared.
The song is captivating from start to finish. I like the innovative pop beats. Besides, the hooks are memorable. Furthermore, I’m also a fan of the soothing vocals and catchy elements.
Lyrically, Kelsey delivers. Her writing skills are impressive.
Speaking about the track, the artist says: ”The song is a part of my upcoming EP Shadow Box. It’s about a controlling family member, one we all probably have. What inspired it is starting my music career but receiving a lot of resistance. Nothing new when it comes to family & friends, right? I did notice it’s usually just a projection of their own fears. But I’m not scared. With this song we continue on our DIY path (writing, recording, producing, mixing, artwork, promotion etc.). We hope you like it as much as we do.”
The EP Shadow Box owes its intriguing title to the fact that Kelsey on the one hand is fully showing herself and on the other hand she’s fighting with herself like a skilled shadow boxer. She enters the ring with her boyfriend Maurits Huijgen as her partner by her side. They do everything fifty-fifty with just the two of them. Whereas she’s the main songwriter, he’s primarily the producer who creates the right circumstances.
Kelsey is a rising superstar. She always makes good music. Her art deserves to be shared.
The song has so much depth. It’s definitely worth listening to.
