Carrie Baxter delivers her much anticipated debut EP Placebo featuring the singles Love Me Better, 4/4 (Love Affair) and the new focus track Forbidden.
Carrie who has been tipped as one of the most thrilling talents coming out of the incredible Irish music scene, powerfully marries Jazz, Neo – Soul, R&B and Pop on this 8 track project.
Forbidden is a highlight of the EP.
The song has a unique quality to it. I like the complex grooves. Besides, the vocals are stellar. Furthermore, I’m also a fan of the jazzy influences and catchy hooks.
Lyrically, Carrie is talented. Her writing skills are impressive.
Forbidden at its core is about the shadow side of ourselves and how much we chose to acknowledge it or not. Desire and lust are the overarching themes with the narrative leading us through ideas of temptation, delusion and logic in relationships and the choices we make based on all of this.
Carrie is a rising superstar. She has her own style.
The song deserves to be heard. It’s a must-hear.
You can stream Forbidden on SoundCloud or Spotify!
