Emily Mercer is a singer-songwriter based in Manchester, UK.
She recently released her new single Gallery.
The song sounds so good. I like the tight, soulful harmonies and smooth, soaring guitar. Besides, the vocals are on point. Furthermore, I’m also a fan of the brilliant piano work.
Lyrically, Emily delivers. Every sentence has depth.
The song carries a clear theme throughout, using playful metaphor to paint a picture of love, uncertainty and mental health.
Speaking about the track, the artist says: ”Gallery is about the feeling that you can’t trust yourself, of feeling drawn to harmful impulses and feeling like you are not in control of your thoughts or actions. It explores the feeling we all have that everyone else knows what they are doing and we are so unsure. It also expresses gratitude to those who see us when we don’t have much to give. I wrote the song at a really uncertain time, and I think that comes across, but the song is also quite freeing in the sense that it is almost a surrender to these feelings, accepting them as a part of life.”
Emily’s music connects with people. She makes real art.
Gallery deserves to be heard. It’s a modern masterpiece in my opinion.
The song was recorded in Leeds shortly before the UK went into lockdown.
