INU INU is a Dutch/English dream pop band heavily influenced by the best sounds of the 80’s combined with the raw production of modern day indie DIY bands.
They recently released their debut EP Running out of Dreams.
A highlight of the mini-album is Sleep.
The song sounds so good. I like smooth guitar work. Besides, the vocals are sublime. Furthermore, I’m also a fan of the solid hooks and unique grooves.
Lyrically the EP is kept very close to the heart, exploring many themes of a personal nature – loss and loneliness, affection and despair.
Sleep is a narrative of a relationship arc – using snapshots of different moments in the protagonist’s life to illustrate the different stages of said relationship. The lyrics explore the desire to not be alone, contrasted with an ever-present inner feeling of the fear of rejection. The repetition of the initial verse and the overall instrumentation seek to illustrate the idea that this is all a cycle; destined to be repeated again and again.
INU INU radiates talent. They make real art.
The song deserves to be heard. It’s a modern masterpiece in my opinion.
