Norwegian singer-songwriter Siv Jakobsen started the campaign for her forthcoming LP in January and it almost seems as if that was another era. Her North American tour got cancelled less than 48 hours after touching down in NYC, she then returned directly into quarantine.
Siv was left cooped up in her Oslo home with her boyfriend and her old dog – suddenly with nothing to do in what was meant to be one of the busiest periods of her life. However, as she started to connect with people via live stream shows she realized that her new music had a context she could never have predicted. She wrote and recorded an album meant to offer A Temporary Soothing – to tackle anxiety, stress and feelings of isolation. Songs took on new meaning and the record suddenly had an unexpected place in the turbulent times we find ourselves in.
A Feeling Felt or a Feeling Made sounds so good. The song features smooth melodies, stellar vocals, and memorable hooks.
Lyrically, Siv delivers. Her writing skills are impressive.
A Feeling Felt or a Feeling Made represents one of the album’s key themes; the struggle Siv faced between being healthy and productive.
The video captures the spirit of the video. It was directed and shot by Jørgen Nordby.
Siv create musical worlds. Her music speaks to the soul. The song is definitely worth a listen.
A Temporary Soothing will be released, at last, on August 21st via U OK?
