Starting her journey in Shropshire, Alex Jayne taught herself to play guitar and began recording. She was soon discovered by BBC Introducing. This led to a fresh chapter in London where Alex found new territory in her sound. 90s Dream was selected by The Guardian for its ‘Best New Music’ playlist. It earned critical acclaim from Earmilk, The Line of Best Fit and featured as BBC Introducing ‘Song of the Month’.
Her latest release Backseat is out now.
The song features brilliant guitar work, outstanding vocals, cool grooves, pop sounds, and solid hooks.
Alex writes with flair. She tells interesting stories. This song is full of iconic lyrics.
Backseat was inspired by a taxi journey through London. It’s about still life in a moving city … late night romantic reflections in a moment of privacy against the relentless energy of the city around you.
“It feels like the city doesn’t stop. It’s always buzzing, moving, flickering around you. Jumping in the back of a cab, I suddenly find myself in this intensely quiet space. I’m sinking into the backseat, wandering through the night. It’s in those moments where I often become reflective.”
Alex continues to deliver good music. Her sound is authentic. Backseat will get stuck in your head for days. Fantastic piece of work.
