Fantastic piece of art. Carsen captivates listeners with stellar vocals, unique piano work, moody sounds, and solid hooks.
Lyrically, Carsen remains as thoughtful as ever. Her lyrics are poetry here. Losing My tells an interesting story.
The sweet yet somber record details Carsen’s “Me vs. Me” mentality and the challenges that come with being both ambitious and sensitive. “I’m losing my sh*t / I need a break from you / Don’t tell me what, tell me what, tell me what I can’t do,” she urges herself.
“Losing My is about the struggle with anxiety and the self-doubt that comes along with it. It’s a way of saying “f*** you” to the voice in your head that’s telling you you’re not good enough.”– Carsen
The imaginative visual shows an emboldened Carsen facing her doubts head on and walking away from insecurity once and for all, strutting into a new era that is firm and unwavering.
Carsen creates an atmosphere. Her music speaks to the soul. Losing My deserves 5 stars. Every second of the song is iconic.
