DUNE Aimee is a Dutch singer/songwriter who debuted four months ago. On her second single, Only Us, layered vocals and a vocoder enter the mix. The instrumental has an overall soothing effect, with some sections that make you feel like you’re flying. This soundscape will immediately draw the listener in. It’s a musical production of exceptional quality.
In regards to the track, Aimee says: ”Only Us got me way out of my comfort zone. I never thought I would write a sexy song, but I guess having a crazy attraction to a guy, in a room that was way too crowded, changed that in about a second. Just imagine standing there, feeling the electricity, but having to control yourself until you get a chance to be alone. Writing about this with one of my best (male) mates back in the UK was probably the most awkward yet liberating thing I have ever done.” She adds: ”Only Us is about embracing a more sensual part of myself. As a women in the music industry I found it really hard to find my voice when it comes to sexuality and I did not know whether I even wanted to sing about it in the first place. However, writing this song taught me how powerful it is to own it. I’m learning to love each and every part of myself and that is exactly what I want to convey and make music about.”
