UK singer-songwriter Manpreet Kundi presents her down-tempo debut single, something. When the instrumental kicks in, the atmosphere is set immediately. Two of the key elements are signature acoustic piano and heavy, slow drum beats. The vocals give the sound a more dynamic quality. Unlike traditional pop lyrics, the words are raw, emotional and melancholic, making them incredibly compelling to listen to.
At its core, something is about doubting everything you ever were to someone who, for a while, made you feel most significant. It’s the chaos and sheer sadness of the breakdown of what you had with someone after they change their mind and leave you in panicked confusion with little explanation.
