Romanie is a Melbourne based artist whose new single, Stranger In My Skin, melts the heart. By pairing instrumentals that focus on guitar with soothing vocals, the song achieves an exceptional sound. I like the concept of this dreamy Indie Pop production, and it is certainly inventive.
A personal, vulnerable tone can be heard in the lyrics. Stranger In My Skin becomes even more authentic as a result. Romanie describes the inspiration for her new song as follows: “It’s about feeling lost and alienated from the outside world and yourself. I wrote it during the second lockdown in Melbourne last year, a period in which I felt very alone and very far away from home (literally as well). I had some really bad days where I wouldn’t take good care of my mental health and this song was the first I wrote after I had picked up my guitar again. I was really angry with myself for feeling that way and let myself slip.”
On August 13th, Romanie will release her EP, named Little Big. Based on the high quality of Stranger In My Skin, it’s likely to be brilliant.
