In the song Plastik by Tendertwin, the lyrics explore the idea of humans losing their connection to the natural world. It seems like we are always in conflict with ourselves. On one side, we have our “organic” emotions- those that are genuine and come from within. On the other side, we have our “feigned” emotions- those that are fake and come from external sources. It’s a battle between what’s real and what’s fake, between what’s authentic and what’s artificial. And it’s a battle that we are constantly changing sides in. Sometimes we feel like we are too organic, that our emotions are too genuine and uncontrolled. Other times we feel like we are too feigned, that our emotions are too fake and not authentic enough. It’s a never-ending battle between two extremes, and it’s a battle that we can never quite win.
We’re always striving for control in our lives. We want to be able to dictate what happens and when it happens. But the fact of the matter is, that’s simply not possible. There are too many variables, and often times things happen for a reason we can’t understand. When something out of our control does occur, we must remain optimistic that everything will work out in the end.
