If I Ever See You Again is a song Rumia wrote to her younger self. In it, she recalls the girl she used to be – someone with big dreams and a lot of ambition – and she thanks her for the lessons she learned along the way. The song reminds us that despite difficult circumstances, you always have the chance to pick up the pieces and keep going. It gives hope and inspiration, showing that you’re never too old or too young to follow your heart.
Rumia’s vocals are placed directly over the instrumental. She accompanies herself with a nearly ethereal instrumental that reflects the tone of her singing. The sound never gets very energetic, but that isn’t necessary. In fact, the lyrics are all you need to focus on.
