If you’re going through a tough breakup, you’re definitely not alone. In fact, there are probably a lot of songs out there that perfectly describe how you’re feeling. One such song is Hurt U by Canadian singer-songwriter Emi Jeen.
This heart-wrenching ballad speaks about the feeling of never being able to fix things between you and the person you love. You realize that you’ve hurt them badly and that it’s too late to apologize. The pain of knowing you’ve ruined everything is overwhelming, and you can’t help but feel like it’s all your fault.
Hurt U relies on sustained piano and violin chords that provide its heartbeat. The vocals are layered on top, echoing the lyrics. What fascinates me most about the production is the way it builds slowly and inexorably to a thrilling conclusion.
