You’ve heard the term before, but what are contradictions? In essence, they’re beliefs or actions that seem to oppose one another.
Let’s take a look at an example: say you believe in being environmentally conscious and trying to reduce your carbon footprint. But at the same time, you enjoy driving your gas-guzzling SUV. That would be a contradiction.
In general, contradictions can be tricky because they force us to face up to our own inconsistencies. We often like to think of ourselves as one-dimensional people with strong opinions, but the reality is that we’re a lot more multifaceted than that.
SJU’s new single, CONTRADICTIONS, explores the complexity of human nature. It’s about the confusion we feel when our beliefs and actions don’t align, and how difficult it can be to remain authentic in a world that’s constantly telling us what to do.
The indie pop song is brimming with sun-soaked melodies and shimmering vocals that make you feel like you’re floating high above the ground. Despite being experimental, it’s also incredibly accessible. We expect to hear it everywhere soon.
