It can be hard to move on after a relationship ends. You might feel like you’re losing a part of yourself, or like you’ll never find love again. But it’s important to realize that you aren’t defined by your relationship, and that there are plenty of other people out there who will love you for who you are.
It’s also important to realize that the past is the past. You can’t change what happened, but you can choose how you react to it. You can choose to let the experience make you stronger, or you can let it hold you back.
The choice is yours, but know that moving on is possible. You can learn to live without them. And that’s something to be proud of.
Tamtam’s new single, INSAK, illustrates the process of healing and rebuilding yourself after a breakup. The opening line pulls you to a familiar picture of a group of girls advising their heartbroken friend to forget about “him”. It translates to: “My friends told me to forget about you, as if I sit here and wait for you…”.
It’s interesting to think about how the chorus can be interpreted in different ways. On the surface, it seems like it’s saying that Tamtam doesn’t want the person they’re singing to come back to them.
But if you dig a little deeper, you could also see that it’s about self-confidence. Tamtam is saying that they need to have someone who truly understands them.
The lyrics are maybe in Arabic, but the emotions behind it are clear to anyone who listens. It crosses all cultural barriers, because no matter who you are, where you’re from, or what you believe, you know what it means to wear the crown you know you deserve, and walk forward with confidence.
INSAK is polished and sleek—it sounds like it belongs on the radio. Tamtam’s vocals are one of the song’s strongest points. They pull you into the story right away, and you can sense the sincerity in her voice.
