London-based duo Gold Spectacles never holds back in expressing themselves. Their newest single, Felines, critiques our modern society.

The song is based on the story of Robert Johnson, one of the most legendary blues musicians of all time. In the 1930s, Johnson was going through a difficult time. He struggled to make a living as a musician, and he felt hopeless. That’s when he was confronted by the devil, who offered him a way out. All he had to do was sign a contract and the rest would fall into place. Johnson considered himself as desperate, so he agreed. And as we all know, the decision he made changed his life forever.

These days, we can all relate to feeling like we’re part of the machine. We’re doing anything we can, but the people in high places are just lifting a finger. It’s safe to say that if we were given the same contract, same terms, we’d probably sign it too.
