The first bite of your meal is always the best bite. It’s fresh and there’s that sense of excitement that comes with it. With each subsequent bite, that feeling starts to fade away until you’re left with just the residue of what was once a great experience.
The same can be said of relationships. In the beginning, everything is quite exciting. You get butterflies in your stomach whenever you see them. But as time goes on, you start to get comfortable with each other and the relationship starts to feel a bit more…ordinary. It no longer has the ‘wow factor’.
The lyrics of Inu-jima’s new single, Best Before (The First Bite) compare the appeal of food to that of people. Hearing them will leave you thinking about the true meaning of this song. We deem that praiseworthy.
The production of Best Before (The First Bite) is whimsical and nostalgic to some extent. It’s driven by lively drums, which complement the subbed synth sounds perfectly. The jangly guitar lines remain mostly in the background, but become more prominent in the chorus.
