Don’t You Waste Our Time was written during a time when Dutch music duo Silver Lake, comprised of Marleen Hoebe and Jesse Koch, were feeling restless and everything seemed to be going too slowly. They found it difficult to be patient for some things happening around them, and it affected their mental state. This song goes out to everyone who has had to distance themselves from the world in order to find relief again.
When you listen to Don’t You Waste Our Time, you’ll notice that the instrumental is actually quite complex. And that’s intentional. Silver Lake wanted to create something that stood out from the crowd.
The song is built around driving drums and melodic guitar riffs. But there are also elements of indie rock and dream pop in there too. We’re sure you’ll love the sound!
Marleen and Jesse perform incredibly well here. Due to their contrasting voices, they harmonize perfectly together. They’re also both able to sing in various styles, so they can switch things up depending on what the song needs.
