Gaby Lagarda wrote My Chicas with the intention of promoting female friendship, and she definitely succeeded. The lyrics are about the different ways that women support each other, whether it’s through tough times or just being there for a glass of wine.
Created entirely by females, the song incorporates Latin-influenced rhythms and slick electronic melodies. The chorus is a particular highlight. It’s impossible to listen to it without bouncing along, and it never leaves your head.
Vocally, Gaby is a powerhouse. She hits every note with confidence and precision, displaying a vocal range that’s both enviable and inspiring. What’s even more impressive is that she manages to do all of this while sounding completely effortless. There’s a reason why she’s regarded as one of today’s most promising singers.
