Brooklyn-based ensemble Sammy Rae & The Friends deliver soul music with such an original touch. Their latest single, Closer to You, sounds stunning. It incorporates organic instruments such as saxophones, keyboards, and percussion. The build-up is engaging and never gets boring. Sammy sings masterfully, adding even more flair to the overall ambiance.
Closer to You explores the internal struggles we face when our relationships come to an end and we must accept that, while we may eventually reach our true selves, it will happen without the person who once occupied such a large space in our lives.
Sammy Rae & The Friends truly leave an impression here. I’m already looking forward to seeing them in Amsterdam next week. My colleague (Madison) says they’re ‘INCREDIBLE’ live.
