Stockholm-based artist Sofia Monroy fuses funk and alt-pop in her latest song, Control. With its bass-driven groove and soulful melodies, it will keep you awake until the sun comes up. The production sometimes reminds me of Ted Riley, which is a positive thing. Monroy’s vocals sparkle like diamonds, and they remain consistent the entire time. There are also harmonies used to make the listening experience even more engaging.
Control examines how the fear of losing control is connected with the desire to be the center of attention for someone else. Suddenly, you are there, tied behind and perplexed, maybe in love, maybe just stuck.
