Pianist Erol Sarp and engineer/software designer Lukas Vogel comprise Grandbrothers. Daybreak is part of their upcoming album, Late Reflections, which will be released on April 14th. They really tried to do something different and succeeded in making you feel fully immersed. While the sound can be quite ambient, the melodic component never disappears. With its pulsing, slow swelling piano samples, the song introduces the listener to a special topography of sounds that give an understanding of the sheer size of the space in which it was made.
I like the direction Grandbrothers is moving in. They’re setting the bar high for others who plan to operate in the same genre. Check out Daybreak below!
