With influences from Bon Iver, Holly Humberstone, The 1975, Billie Eilish, and everyone in between, AVEY’s style echoes sincerity. Her second solo single, talk back, sounds interesting. It starts out slowly, but gradually becomes more progressive, culminating in a powerful ending. Elements, such as the guitar, give the production its recognizable character.
talk back explores themes of regret, self-criticism, and the constant struggle to find one’s identity, overcome self-doubt, and exceed external expectations through the lens of self-discovery. I appreciate the thoughtfulness of the lyrics.
