Canadian country artist Justine Blanchet shares Cheap Sunglasses, the lead single from her debut EP. It has some cool aspects and doesn’t get monotonous. Musically, I’m most impressed by the drumming as it produces such a cool rhythm. The guitars are also amazing, keeping the melody fresh. Blanchet pulls you in with her powerful voice.
The song addresses a painful heartbreak that leads you to give up on true connections. Instead of pursuing something meaningful, you wear cheap sunglasses – a metaphor for superficial relationships that only mask the pain.
