While her peers are increasingly choking out their choruses and shortening their verses, Leila Sunier remains refreshingly patient and explorative. The Favorite is defined by quirky instrumentals that, despite being occasionally understated, give the sound momentum. I particularly like the moment when the chorus kicks in. Sunier’s performance exudes uniqueness, she has a wonderful voice.
In the vein of early Lily Allen, this song has humorously pointed lyrics. They’re absolutely well-written, and they’ll make you want to hit repeat right away.
