Emerging singer-songwriter Hilla recognizes that it’s often easier to stay silent and avoid confrontation during times of conflict. However, in her new single, Dark, she advises you not to simply turn the other cheek and remain passive ; instead, she wants you to be strong, speak out, and let them see you’re hurt.
This song has moody undertones, bringing you right into Hilla’s headspace. In some ways, it’s comparable to Billie Eilish. Though the verses remain fairly mellow, the chorus has plenty of power. I like the contrast between them.
