JUNO and Polaris Prize-nominated singer-songwriter Terra Lightfoot shares Someone Else’s Feelings, a guitar-driven track with a stomp and clap beat that sets the atmosphere for her observations on communication mishaps.
The story behind the lyrics is an interesting one. Lightfoot found herself in a room full of songwriters discussing an upcoming Bob Dylan tribute night and someone remarked, “isn’t it just so easy to sing someone else’s feelings?”
That question led Lightfoot to hurry off to an old cemetery across the road from the venue. There, the lyrics flowed out as she reflected on “how we sometimes let other people’s opinions and feelings dictate how we feel about a situation.”
