Dutch artist Azra Ilya came up with the concept for Different during the initial COVID-19 lockdown. She spent weeks in her own cocoon, writing songs and discovering her true self and aspirations, free from outside influences. Nowadays, Azra retreats into that cocoon when she feels overwhelmed by the scrutiny and judgment of others.
Different features experimental pop elements and is crafted with care. It relies primarily on solid drums, which give the sound its foundation. Azra’s vocals are wonderful, shining light onto each lyric.
