Singer-songwriter TAELA releases her new single, unforgivable. She shared that the meaning behind the lyrics touches on how we can become accustomed to toxicity in relationships. You make excuses for the other person and become blind to the unhealthiness of the situation. The song is a realization that you deserve better.
For the music video, TAELA wanted to really feed into the whole 1950s housewife thing. There was so much manipulation and control in that era and women were really trapped in the idea that their worth lay solely in cooking, cleaning, taking care of kids and pleasing their husbands. TAELA personally don’t feel like much has changed today. There’s still a disgusting stigma around women not being as capable of success once they’re married and/or have children or reach a certain age. She wanted to take the viewers on a journey of her going from a sweet little conditioned housewife, to realizing how fucked up it is.
