Married duo Flagship Romance release their new single, awkward. Percussive, coffeehouse-style acoustic rhythms lay the groundwork for lush synthesizer pads and atmospheric guitar lines. The hazy, mellow sound quality gives the track a chill, lo-fi vibe reminiscent of Tame Impala.
Vocally, awkward features heartfelt lyrics sung in a delicate tone, creating a feeling of vulnerability. Lead singer Jordyn Jackson discusses the weirdness of being human. Phrases like “Anytime that I try to say how I feel / It’s like I’m falling asleep at the wheel” capture the difficulty of saying what you really feel.
