As a London-born, London-bred singer-songwriter, Nicky Phillips found her calling north, writing and performing her open-hearted songs across North West England. She continues to impress with Old Oak Tree. A guitar-driven melody lends a warm feel to the instrumental. The vocals closely reflect the lyrics in terms of tone.
Old Oak Tree explores the theme of having someone who will consistently support and uplift you during challenging times. While the lyrics primarily approach this topic from a romantic angle, the majority of the verses focus on the profound comfort of having someone you can depend on.
