Singer-songwriter Issara releases her new album, 222. Its soulful tones assure a genre-defining experience. You’ll feel like you’ve stepped back into Motown’s golden era. Isara brings the best of the past to the present.

222 has a fair share of high points. We really like the album’s opener, Ride, for instance. The song has up-tempo melodies that launch the project into space. Its rhythm section is energetically similar to those Tina Turner used in her music. Phoenix‘s lyrics are sincere and make you rise again. I see you, gives off a feeling of tranquility due to the easygoing guitar lines and drum beats. However, its chorus is a driving one, keeping the pace absorbing.

Rebel definitely turns you into a ‘rebel’. Its slamming instrumentals build much anticipation throughout, but don’t be fooled by that entirely since it has a bridge that’s surprisingly soft. Universe glistens with disco-allure, featuring funky riffs to move the groove along. Home is influenced by the gospel, and yes, listening to it can renew your soul.

Issara knows where the heart of music lies. Even though she keeps things nostalgic, she does it in her own concrete way. All these songs here breathe sprightliness, and we can only imagine how they’ll sound live. Issara excelled at coordinating this project. She should be proud of herself.
