Sometimes you stumble upon a musician who dwells in an entirely different universe. Cochrane is a prime example of this. It’s almost as if he’s bringing the sound of 2300 to earth. You’ll find yourself walking on clouds when you listen to his songs. Proof? Simply listen to Cochrane’s second album, Lagerstätte.

The project is launched with The Rolling Cells. Here, atmospherics collide, looking for places to settle. A sweeping rhythm section wears its suit when the production nears the end of the choreography. The cast, the muse, is rich in textures that put electronics on a plate. Some pop edges echo accessibility.

Future Name features groovy percussion and bright synths. It reminds me of Daft Punk with its jazzy background motifs. However, a few intricate abstract lines lend a darker feel. This balance works well. Lastly, we have Dad Song. I love how it sends out messages without having any lyrics. It completes the journey like it should.

Cochrane maintains his own focus and sharpness by releasing Lagerstätte. The detail is astounding, as something new happens every second. You have no choice but to love it.

Although we don’t give ratings, we strongly recommend you listen to this album. When you put this on, you have to close your eyes and paint the scene as you like. Check it out below!
