German singer-songwriter Lucie Glang releases her debut EP, The Game. She must be very proud of it, because things sound steady. I fancy how closely connected the songs are. Heart and soul went into making this EP, I can assure you.
Friend, featuring Dominic Romano, initiates the project. It talks about how a dog can help you survive the dark northern winters. Mostly, they’re the best company you’ll ever find. They’re loyal and bring you peace when you need it most. Seagull continues the EP’s story. A wonderful phenomenon happens when the guitars and drums meet and move in the same direction. I also love the singing here.
Mountain Dialogue, with Mikas, sounds more traditional, however in a good way. It’s striking structurally. Visions has a very interesting theme. Lucie shows you how not to live life for others. She’s right, sometimes you have to do what’s best for yourself.
The title track ends the show. Its lyrics explore the strange ways in which people treat one another. A cool groove underpins all of this. The strings are also arranged nicely.
Glang gives hope that authentic music still exists. She couldn’t have done any better, a ten out of ten for me. Check out The Game below!
