ohrwurm uses music to design their own odyssey. The answer to the question of whether they’re successful as far as doing that is a resounding yes. I admire the work done by this duo, for the simply cause that it’s inspirational. Luckily for their fans, a new EP was released just last week, called heven.
The project consists of six tracks of equal quality. I specifically like the first one, I want you there 2, which assembles light hyper-pop and indie-pop motifs. It gives you an accurate picture of how deep the underlying structure is. ohrwurm wants you to become dipped in mystery. The follow-up, hi_im_takashi_ begins atmospherically, before heavy beats flip the script upside-down. A serene vibe returns with chakra, with twirling electronics navigating like pilots. It’s reminiscent of Future Bass from a few years ago, but more streamlined.
pissing u off, featuring Swedish music artist and producer Sabrina Li, is drenched in with dense textures that don’t sluggish the sound, but speed it up. lifetime cookies, inspired by drum & bass, goes hard, making you lose track of time. siddhartha, perhaps the coolest of the bunch, knows how to keep the sound at an all-time optimum with unconventional features, like the acoustic guitar.
heven drafts a story of chasing aspirations that may appear out of reach, battling inner pride, and surrendering to the vulnerability of love during the nostalgic ambiance of late summer evenings. Through its interpretations, the EP uncovers the immense scope of our perception.
ohrwurm simply cannot be compared to other acts. Their craft isn’t easy to grasp, but if you invest in it, you’ll see just how valuable it is. heven gives you the feeling of being in heaven briefly. Check it out below!
