Toronto-based Sam Louis changes the face of Alt Pop from home. His song, Legacy, is grounded in reality. It talks about losing people around you who played a key role in shaping your life and career. The lyrics prompt thoughts on the value of success without their presence. They also consider the emotions involved if the roles were reversed.
Legacy resembles a hybrid of The Weekend and Billie Eilish from a sonic perspective. I love how the keys roll, and how the vocals lean towards them. There’s much to discover along the way, notably when the beats enter halfway through.
