Canadian alt-country musician Leeroy Stagger has unveiled his latest musical offering, 3 AM Revelations, now available on all digital streaming platforms via Tonic Records. This 13th full-length album from him spotlights his strongest and most iconic compositions to date, born in the quiet, introspective hours before dawn.
Stagger recorded the album in his new Victoria home studio, which he describes as made of “beautiful rough-cut wood.” The intimate setting undoubtedly contributed to the album’s candid ambiance. Notably, 3 AM Revelations represents Stagger’s third attempt at creating this set of songs, hinting at the thorough approach employed.
In the energizing opening track Mediocrity Pill, Stagger acknowledges the absence of variety in life using layers of distortion. He truly shows the struggle of carrying on through everyday life, which has evolved into monotony and boredom. Count To Ten keeps the vibe going with steady drums and colorful guitar melodies at the forefront. These Days feels more relaxed, but still focused on catchiness. A track like Alberta Stars takes you deep emotionally. It examines Leeroy’s reaction to heartbreak and how it influences him.
Watermelon Pink revolves around a character named Henriette. With her striking blue hair and stained teeth, she has a carefree and rebellious attitude. Closing out the album, It’s Gonna Be Alright (Someday) sees the positive side of things. It summarizes Stagger’s musings, offering a reassuring message that aligns with the album’s themes of struggle, compassion, and lastly, hope.
3 AM Revelations confirms Stagger’s reputation as a formidable force across the alt-country genre. As fans immerse themselves in this latest offering, they’ll undoubtedly find comfort in Stagger’s lyrics and production style.
