Rising singer-songwriter Hannah Harlacher releases Ghost. Having a passion for Halloween and its aesthetics led her to create this piece. It explores the complications of maintaining relationships, specifically the feeling of being overlooked or disregarded. Phrases like “just in case it’s the last time” accentuate the uncertainty Harlacher encounters.
Ghost‘s production incorporates a folk-inspired instrumentation that forms a striking juxtaposition with the dark lyrical theme. I find the approach of utilizing calm/vibey verses that subsequently transition into an elevated chorus to be quite clever. This structure makes it possible for an experience where you’re taken from one emotive state to another,
With Ghost, Hannah keeps her momentum going. Check it out below!
