Samantha Gongol is known for being part of the platinum-selling duo Marian Hill. By releasing Flash in the Pan, she steps into the spotlight on her own for the first time. In the introspective track, Gongol grapples with confronting her fears that her existence as a public figure may be coming to a close. She also wrestles with whether to continue pursuing her musical dreams or leave the industry behind for good. Nonetheless, as Gongol notes with trademark wit, “That’s the biz, folks!”
Synths and catchy indie pop guitars make the sound rise and not fall at all. I love the build-up and how the chorus is decorated with textures and spices things up. The vocals are powerful in how convincing they come across.
