Holly Havens is intrigued by the idea of traveling through time and experiencing life during different periods of history. In Time Traveler, she talks about a woman who falls in love with a man in the past, but must eventually return to her own era. She wonders if their love could overcome the vast differences between their circumstances. Some might argue that pursuing a relationship under such conditions is unrealistic or even selfish. However, Holly knows better. She took her experience of studying in another country for these lyrics – she too faced the challenge of a budding romance with an end in sight. Fortunately, they’re still together and in a good place.
The production has a nice singer-songwriter feel to it, with easy, melodic guitar work and steady drumming in the background. Holly’s vocals have a nuanced quality that melds well into the instrumentation. I found the song to be very interesting in total.
