Psycho by Abz Winter is talking about that one friend we know who just can’t handle their alcohol. You know the type, they seem fine at first when they start drinking but it doesn’t take long before things go downhill fast. Pretty soon they’re a sloppy, emotional mess who’s saying and doing things they’ll likely regret. It’s awkward and uncomfortable for everyone around them watching it happen.
The song has a really solid punk rock vibe to it. The drums hit hard right from the start to get you to pay attention. And the melodics itself have an almost ominous or foreboding quality to it that helps build anticipation of what’s to come when this “psycho” friend starts losing it. But it also has an energy that keeps propelling the song forward so it never feels like it’s dragging despite the subject matter.
