Malu Pierini is a singer-songwriter based in Copenhagen, fusing her French and Corsican roots with Nordic inspirations. She drops Souvenir. In the song, she talks about how she’s supposed to head back home in a month, but she’s really feeling torn. She’s developed this unexpected connection to where she’s at now. It’s not like she went looking for that or anything, but it just kind of happened organically. So Pierini is grappling with those conflicting feelings of being ready to go back to her usual life, but also not wanting to leave behind this special experience she’s had.
You can feel the yearning in Pierini’s soulful, gentle voice as it harmonizes with the bossa nova rhythms from the Mediterranean and that classic French accordion sound. Together, they create one of the most comforting pop choruses you’ll hear this Fall 2024.
