Stephanie Meincke is a Danish singer-songwriter. In her latest track Hold Your Horses, she gets real about the inner battle you can’t escape – the tug-of-war between craving love but being scared to show vulnerability. Meincke lays it all out there with brutally honest lines like “I’m not someone to build your dreams upon” and “It feels like I could break you from inside.” Relatable, right? It’s your inner voice telling you you’re not enough, you’re too messed up to be loved.
Hold Your Horses starts off pretty quiet, but then it gradually builds up in this really natural, organic way that just gets under your skin. The folky textures give it such a warm sound too. And the vocals are genuine and powerful – the kind that really make the lyrics look irreplaceable.
